Swimming lessons and who am I?

Tuesday- 6 miles on the treadmill, 9:20 pace + arm/ab workout

Yep, you read that right, that’s day 2 of doing an arm workout. Who am I? I’m not sure how you all do this, my arms are jello! I love that feeling of being sore the next day though so I’m definitely keeping it up. The 4-6 miles of my run were hard. There were a couple of stop breaks to get a drink and catch my breath. Not sure why, but sometimes you just have days like that ya know?

We loaded up the car and headed to the water park with my MIL and SIL’s. I’m not sure what beats a day in the Sun.We brought lunch and just enjoyed being outside and with family.

photo(601)The boys love the water and the shade shack we brought for the baby.Β  Luckily we got there early and by the time we were leaving, the crowds were rolling in. The early bird gets the worm, or pool in this case;)

J fell asleep on the way home, so I got cleaned up and then made a giant bowl of macaroni. It was sooo good, sometimes I just need some good old fashion mac n’ cheese.

J had his first swimming lesson of the season! A lot of his friends and cousin are in the same class and he had a blast! Obviously he already loves the water, I’m hoping we learn a few new things and maybe even help him stop drinking so much pool water.*Recognize my running buddy Heather and her cute daughter??*

Did you go to swim lessons growing up?

What’s your favorite summer activity?

About Sugar Plum Runner

Welcome to the Sugar Plum Runner! I grew up in WA state, but currently reside in UT with my husband Josh, son Jackson, and 2 daughters Lily and Claire. I love running, but I have never been so inspired to run, race, and blog about it since 4 years ago after I had Jackson. I grew up playing soccer and cheered in high school. My favorite part of both sports(and yes I consider cheer leading a sport) was the conditioning. I found myself running after practice was over on my own. That's when I realized that running may be the sport I really loved.

  1. My sister and I didn’t go to swim lessons until the month before we were going to summer camp and we had to swim in a lake. My mom wanted to make sure we could swim properly at camp and not just swim around like we usually did in the pool. I have loved the water since forever. My dad had to actually save me from drowning when I was two because I was sitting on the edge and decided to slip right into the pool and sank to the bottom. Oops.

My favorite summer activities are swimming and catching some rays πŸ˜€

  2. How fun! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the upper body weight training. Rock those goals! πŸ™‚

I have actually NEVER taken any sort of swimming class and mostly taught myself while in college. I’m glad J is learning young πŸ™‚

That is wonderful that you are taking him for swim lessons! So important! Glad he’s enjoying it, hopefully he won’t drink as much of that water!! So great that your friend is in the same class with her daughter! And good job on your 6 miles, you’re doing a fantastic job keeping your mileage up lady! Have a great day!

  4. What a fabulous day!! There is no place I can find around here to give my little boy swimming lessons, but I’m still looking…He loves water SO much, I’ve got to get him lessons soon. I was lifeguard certified and loved swimming!

  5. Yes – we did swimming lessons every summer at the local pool

  6. Congrats on an awesome run!!
We did swim lessons and swim team for my entire life.. I loved them!

    • Thanks!

That’s right, you’ve mentioned swim team, that’s so awesome. I don’t think I could ever be that good, but it’s fun to play in the pool.
Maybe one of my kids will want to be on the swim team though, that’d be fun!

  7. woo way to go on the arm workout, once you make it a habit it just comes so much easier

I wish I would have taken more swimming lessons for swim technique because now when I want to do triathlons, the swim is what scares me the most! I love days in the sun with family. That’s definitely the best!
